Magazine Scrunchie Backgroundss By Trish Bayley

I came across this cool technique while searching through blogs online and thought it would make a good swap challenge theme!

The idea is this -

1. You tear out an interesting looking sheet out of a magazine, scrunch the paper up into a tight ball.

2. Then take a sheet of card and layer it with strong double sided tape or you can run it through a Xyron.

3. Open up the scrunched up magazine paper, and use a brayer to roll the magazine onto the sticky card surface - as you roll you want to make sure youve got lots of lovely grooves and texture going on. If any edges are too loose you can use double sided tape to stick em down proper.

4. Once you' ve done that you apply a light coat of gesso (or you dont - its up to you) and then begin painting or adding inks to the backgrounds to make a gorgeous looking piece of artwork which would be brilliant for a background for a collage or something.
